Silvia is based in our London office and is experienced in all aspects of customs and excise duties having spent a considerable amount of time with a Supply Chain Logistics company with a dedicated contract to one of the world’s largest airlines.

As the Customs Manager, she was responsible for managing their customs and excise bonded warehouses for inflight consumption and inflight duty-free retail sales, ensuring reliefs were implemented properly and meeting other related compliance obligations eg CFSP, NES, Intrastat. She was also involved in determining tariff classifications.

Her career in customs duty started with HMRC where she was a large trader control officer for a major airline and a hydrocarbon oils trader and was also involved in other duty relief regimes such as customs warehousing, inward processing relief, end-use etc.

• A wide range of issues including ways in which businesses can effectively manage customs duties from a compliance and cost perspective
• The implementation of bonded warehouses and other reliefs such as IP
• Tariff classification, valuation and origin
• Applying for and managing accreditations such as AEO
